Rebuilding Together, Lowe’s Partner to Rebuild Neighborhoods Across the Country
WASHINGTON, D.C., October 13, 2022 – Rebuilding Together, a leading national nonprofit rebuilding communities in need, is partnering with Lowe’s to kick off its Rebuild a Block projects that will help rebuild homes in five communities across the country. During October and November, more than 100 Lowe’s associates will be on site in Chicago, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Atlanta and Daly City, Calif., providing essential, no-cost repairs to six homes in each community.
“Making it possible for homeowners to stay in their homes and pass them down to future generations is a direct remedy to the lack of affordable housing sweeping the nation,” said Caroline Blakely, president and CEO of Rebuilding Together. “The Rebuild a Block initiative ensures that homeowners within the same neighborhood, many of whom have been neighbors for decades, are able to remain in their homes and pass their generational wealth – their homes – on to their families.”
In each of these neighborhoods, Lowe’s associates will rebuild six homes to preserve critical affordable housing opportunities and ensure these homeowners are able to age in place in a safe environment. The Rebuild a Block projects will be taking place on the following dates:
• Philadelphia – Oct. 14
• St. Louis – Oct. 14
• Chicago – Nov. 3
• Daly City, Calif. – Nov. 8
• Atlanta – Nov. 11
"Lowe’s is committed to meeting critical needs in communities across the country, and we are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Rebuilding Together through these urgent home repairs,” said Janice Dupré, Lowe’s executive vice president of human resources. “Our Lowe’s associates love to support neighborhood rebuilds like Rebuild a Block, which has a deep impact in our communities and brings attention to the importance of safe and affordable housing.”
Thanks to partners like Lowe’s, Rebuilding Together has been helping rebuild and revitalize communities at no cost to neighbors in need. This effort utilizes the strategic Community Revitalization Partnerships (CRP) framework, which is a coordinated approach that engages local Rebuilding Together affiliates, municipalities, nonprofits and other organizations to build safe, healthy and thriving communities. The Rebuild a Block projects are an example of Rebuilding Together’s CRP initiative in action.
This year, Lowe’s has contributed the support of associate volunteers and more than $3.3 million to help renovate and rehabilitate 79 homes across more than 36 communities through local partnerships between Rebuilding Together affiliates nationwide. Since the partnership began in 2007, more than 4,100 Lowe’s associates have assisted neighbors all over the U.S.
