Anna's Story: Helping A Veteran Stay Safe At Home

Anna, a U.S. Army Veteran, has lived in her home for 12 years. This is her first and forever home and she has worked tirelessly to maintain it. However, repair costs were steep. When she was in better health, Anna was very handy and constantly worked on her home, juggling the repair work around her full-time job. But as she fell further behind, Anna reached out to Rebuilding Together for help.

She was thrilled to learn there were people who cared and wanted to help.

“I was beginning to think the world had given up on each other,” Anna told us. “But now I know, people still care.”

Ahead of the cold winter weather, [Re]Builders replaced Anna’s broken water heater and thermostat, made electric repairs and replaced her stove and front storm door, at no cost to her. Now, Anna can continue to live independently in the home and community she loves.
