At Rebuilding Together, we believe strong communities are built not only through safe and healthy homes but also through vibrant shared spaces where neighbors of all ages can gather and connect. This past April, Rebuilding Together Of South Alabama helped bring that vision to life in McIntosh, Alabama.

Rebuilding Together Of South Alabama joined local leaders, volunteers and families to unveil a brand-new community playground at 83 Olin Road: a project made possible through months of planning, generous sponsorships and the dedication of community partners. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the culmination of a collaborative effort to transform an aging play space into a safe, imaginative area where children can explore, grow and play freely.

The new playground features thoughtfully designed equipment from Playworld, including a Whirl-a-Round, multiple slides, activity panels for sensory learning and climbing structures like the Wildwood, which invites kids to imagine climbing the roots of a tree or creating adventures beneath its branches. “McIntosh's park is nestled in the heart of town and serves as the background for most of the community events,” said Trista Stout-Walker, executive director of Rebuilding Together Of South Alabama. “This upgrade will be enjoyed for generations to come.”

This project is a response to a long-standing need in McIntosh, updating outdated playground equipment to ensure that local children have access to a space that is both safe and creative. “We believe playgrounds are essential spaces that unite communities and foster growth and creativity,” said David Sheedy, Vice President of Global Sales at Playworld. “We're proud to partner with Rebuilding Together Of South Alabama to bring innovative, engaging play opportunities to McIntosh, creating lasting memories for local families.”

As we kick off Park and Recreation Month this July, we’re proud to look back at moments like this, where public spaces are not only improved but reimagined as cornerstones of communities. Thanks to Rebuilding Together Of South Alabama and partners, McIntosh families now have a revitalized playground to enjoy all summer long and for years to come.
