Super Bowl-Sanctioned Event Kicks Off in L.A. This Weekend
For the past 27 years, Rebuilding Together has worked in Super Bowl cities across the country to rebuild homes and bring neighbors together. Kickoff to Rebuild, a Super Bowl-sanctioned event presented by Lowe’s, will directly benefit 16 families in Los Angeles neighborhoods this weekend, including View Park (just outside SoFi Stadium), Baldwin Hills, Chesterfield Square and more. Despite years of investments into public venues, these neighborhoods still face challenges including persistent generational poverty, substandard and obsolescent housing and low-paying jobs.
Our Los Angeles affiliate, Rebuilding Together Of the City of Angels, will work with volunteers and local contractors to complete home repairs for members of the community, many of whom are older adults living with mobility issues. The home repairs include roof replacements, bathroom upgrades, kitchen installations, landscaping, window repairs and fresh paint.
Retired Healthcare provider, Joyce, has lived in her Los Angeles home for more than 50 years. Due to the extent of the work needed on her home, the project is divided into multiple phases. A previous grant from Lowe's repaired Joyce's bathroom. This Friday, Rebuilding Together Of the City of Angels will repair the kitchen, exterior doors and damaged flooring and make several other safety improvements and modifications.
All of the life-changing home repairs completed during Kickoff to Rebuild would not be possible without partners like Lowe’s, Omaze and Toughbuilt. Rebuilding Together has partnered with Lowe’s on Kickoff to Rebuild since 2007. Since then, our partnership has helped deepen our impact in neighborhoods and communities nationwide. “We have proudly partnered with Rebuilding Together since 2007 and are humbled to provide our expertise in home repairs to help homeowners stay in their homes and safely age in place,” said Ramon Montes, Lowe’s district manager.
To date, Kickoff to Rebuild has impacted over 158 homes, engaged 5,000 volunteers and invested more than $5 million to communities in need.
