Helping a Veteran Feel Safer at Home

Rebuilding Together partnered with veteran Edward Wong to complete critical repairs and accessibility improvements that helped make his home safer and more comfortable for everyday living.

As an older adult living with a disability, Edward needed several repairs to support his health, mobility and security at home. Volunteers and staff completed plumbing repairs to restore water access to the bathroom, replaced the toilet and bathroom faucet and installed grab bars to improve accessibility and reduce fall risks. Additional repairs included the installation of a handrail at the front of the home, solar lighting, landscaping improvements and a Ring security system to help increase his overall safety. 

Every repair, no matter the size, plays an important role in helping our neighbors remain safely in the homes and communities they love. Projects like Edward’s are a reminder that safe and healthy housing can make a meaningful difference in someone’s daily life.
