Rebuilding Together Announces Gordon Lavigne as Vice President of Development

WASHINGTON, March 10, 2014 - Rebuilding Together, a national nonprofit with a vision of a safe and healthy home for every person, announced today that, following an extensive nationwide search, Gordon Lavigne has joined the team as its new Vice President of Development.

In his new role, Lavigne will lead Rebuilding Together’s execution and coordination of its overall philanthropic strategy, including annual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation support, major gifts, planned giving programs, and in-kind resources.

Lavigne has been a professional fundraiser for 15 years. During his career, he has helped transform nonprofits from small regional charities into global models for charitable excellence. He has an extensive background working at both the affiliate and national levels, including serving as the primary fundraising liaison to a nationwide network of chapters at the Alzheimer’s Association. He also has raised money for the Autism Society of America, UC Berkeley’s Alumni Association and the ALS Association. Lavigne co-founded MATTER!, a nonprofit fundraising and marketing consulting firm, and also served as VP for External Affairs at the Grameen Foundation, an international global poverty alleviation nonprofit.

“Gordon’s strong experience in fundraising for national affiliate-based programs will help guide us as we work to grow Rebuilding Together’s impact and reach nationwide,” said Charley Shimanski, Rebuilding Together’s president and CEO. “His understanding of fundraising for a network like ours will help him lead us on an innovative and ground-breaking path to grow foundation, individual and corporate support to increase our combined capacity to provide critical home repairs.”

Lavigne holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Vermont and a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Psychology from Lewis & Clark College. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of CFRE International.
