Lowe’s Helps Strengthen Communities During COVID-19 Outbreak
As people continue to stay at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, we know critical home repairs are more important than ever. Last month, Rebuilding Together established the Rebuilding Together COVID-19 Emergency Repairs Fund to help local communities across the country meet the increased demand for critical home repairs.
Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Lowe’s home improvement, a long-time partner of Rebuilding Together, generously committed $1 million to Rebuilding Together’s COVID-19 Emergency Repairs Fund to strengthen communities during uncertain times.
As Rebuilding Together affiliates across the country face unprecedented challenges caused by the pandemic, the commitment will help them maintain operations and continue to serve their communities. The funds will be used in part to perform emergency repairs to increase the safety of vulnerable populations and help them shelter in place, Some activities include installing air conditioning units for seniors in warm climates and providing families with a new water heater.
Donated funds are earmarked for emergency home repairs and modifications that allow seniors, low-income families with young children and other at-risk populations to safely shelter in place.
Lowe’s has been a committed Rebuilding Together partner since 2007, investing more than $18.9 million to strengthen local communities. With the help of 4,300 Lowe’s employee volunteers donating 38,400 hours of their time, Lowe’s and Rebuilding Together have made 1,700 homes safer, improved the lives of 16,000 people and provided better access to quality community resources, positively impacting neighborhoods across the country.
Lowe’s continues to demonstrate their commitment to communities in need. With this gift, Rebuilding Together affiliates across the nation will be better positioned to face increased demand for our critical home repair services.
